Marinda citrifalia (noni) is a tropical plant grown in the South Pacific Islands and has been widely used in folk medicine by the Polynesians for over 2,000 years. Ethnobotanical reports include a broad range of uses including the treatment of liver and heart conditions. Many constituents have been identified in the f uit which have antioxidant activity and reported hepatoprotcctive and cardioprotectivc properties. These include 3, 3'-bisdemethylpinoresinol, americanol A, amcricanin A, morindolin, isoprincepin, neolignin, kaempferol, quercetin, rutin, catechin, and epicatechin.
