Six-Year Effect of Combined Vitamin C and E Supplementation on Atherosclerotic Progression

Multidisciplinary evidence indicates that enhanced lipid peroxidation is associated with accelerated atherogenesis and that self-selected use of antioxidant supplements is associated with reduced atherosclerosis. However, contradictory findings have been observed in randomized clinical trials. The reasons for this have been discussed extensively. Briefly, differences in study populations, the supplements, and outcome measures seem to explain this variability.
